'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from distance, and his teammate quickly converted the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an unbelievable comeback given the team had trailed 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result secured a fourth-round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
